Brandon and Brittany started Pure Disposal in 2015, and refrigerator disposal in Fort Myers is one of the appliance calls we get most often. A new fridge is being delivered, the old one dies, a kitchen remodel starts, or the garage fridge finally quits. Whatever the reason, we wheel it out with floor protection, load it on the trailer, and take it to a facility that recovers the refrigerant before the unit is scrapped.
Why refrigerator recycling matters (and why we do it right)
Old refrigerators and freezers contain refrigerant gases that can’t be released into the air. Federal law (Section 608 of the Clean Air Act) requires refrigerant to be recovered before an appliance is scrapped, which is why a fridge shouldn’t be dumped or left on the curb. The metal and foam insulation also need proper handling. Where a fridge ends up matters as much as getting it out of your kitchen.
Repair, replace, or recycle?
A fridge that isn’t cooling isn’t always finished. Before you replace it, check that the door seals are tight, the coils are clean, and the unit is level, since those cause many cooling problems. If it’s noisy, leaking, running constantly, or the repair quote is close to the price of a new one, replacing it usually makes more sense. Once you’ve decided, schedule the pickup for before or on delivery day so the old unit isn’t in the way.

Drop-off rules vary by facility, and a fridge is heavy and awkward to load into a vehicle. We pick it up from your kitchen or garage and take care of the disposal. Do I need to empty the fridge first?

Do you remove doors for narrow doorways?
Yes — some Fort Myers condos and older homes have doorways that a modern French-door fridge won’t clear. We remove doors on-site, wheel through, and dispose. No extra fee.
